Councillor proposes free dumping for one week to curb litter problem

Fine Gael councillor Noreen Heston has come up with an interesting suggestion to tackle the problem of litter within the county. She put down a motion which was due to be debated at Castlebar Town Council’s meeting last night (Thursday) calling on Mayo County Council to make the facilities at the council’s landfill sites free to all residents of the county for one week.

This is following a decision by the EPP presidency where the Mayo TD will chair the preparatory meetings prior to the scheduled meetings of the Council of Ministers on behalf of the EPP. The position will be chaired in conjunction with Italian Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, Maurizio Sacconi, on behalf of the ministers.
