Four-year-old boy killed in farming accident

A four-year-old boy was fatally injured in an accident on a farm in north Mayo on Wednesday night.

The accident, which involved a tractor and trailer, happened at around 8.20pm on Wednesday evening on a farm in Ballinaboy, Belmullet. The boy was visiting family in the area ahead of a family wedding, the child was named locally as Declan Donoghue.

Planning sought for €1.5m town hall in Ballinrobe

A community group in Ballinrobe has applied to Mayo County Council for planning permission to develop a state-of-the-art, €1.5 million, town hall facility.

The group plan to develop the new facility, which includes a 400-seater auditorium, on the site of the old town hall on the Neale Road.
