Last night (Thursday) the Mayor of Castlebar, Councillor Brendan Henaghan launched A Stroll Through Castlebar, which is an easy to read guidebook to the county town. The guide includes six guided walks that offer a unique insight into the town and its people.

The Archbishop of Tuam Michael Neary has announced a series of new diocesan appointments which will take effect from Friday July 19.
The changes are to reflect a number of retirements in the diocese which spreads across Mayo and Galway. It also accommodates some priests who are to be given extra duties in the operation of the diocese or who are to minister overseas.

Mayo county councillor Patsy O’Brien has warmly welcomed the sanctioning by South West Mayo Development Company (SWMDC) for two major projects in Cong. SWMDC has given the green light to Cong Community Centre Limited for the construction of a community centre at Gortaroe and also to Cong Festival Committee Limited for the construction and installation of two bronze statues in Cong village.
