The Voice star Sharon Murphy bringing soul to the Linenhall

You might have heard her mesmerising performance on BBC’s The Voice UK 2015, but now fans of the show and singer/songwriter Sharon Murphy can take in her distinctive mix of soul, reggae, folk and blues at the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar on Thursday July 2 at 8pm.

Murphy is a singer, songwriter and performer who spent many years in Clifden, Co Galway.

She began to sing at an early age, and taught herself to play guitar. Her song writing has been described as "straight from the heart, personal songs that touch a universal chord in people".

Performing solo, Murphy's style and sound spans a range of genres from soul to reggae to folk and blues while her guitar playing is a unique blend of driving rhythmic percussive beats one moment and delicate gentle finger picking the next.

A special night by a special performer is on the cards.
