Sonia O'Sullivan to give running workshop

Fitness professionals from all over Mayo are gathering for a weekend of fitness, sport, and advice in all disciplines in Breaffy Sports Arena this April 24, 25, and 26.

The weekend will kick off with a Zumbathon from 7pm to 10pm on Friday April 24.

Saturday and Sunday will provide back-to-back fitness classes, talks, and demonstrations by instructors from a wide range of sports and fitness organisatoins, including Breaffy Leisure Club, Get a Grip Yoga, Boxercise West, Studio Style Fitness, iWanna Run, Ballinrobe Physiotherapy, Bokwa, Krav Maga, White Tiger Marshall Arts, and Castle Leisure Club.

Breaffy Leisure Centre will be on site for the weekend and tours of the gym will be available.

Special guest speaker Sonia Sullivan will deliver a workshop on Saturday April 25 at 12 noon on all things running with tips, advice, support, and guidance as well as telling her own story of her experiences as a top athlete.

The workshop is for all runners, sports enthusiasts, and people who want to hear Sonia speaking.

Sonia will also be taking part in the Park Run at Lough Lannagh, Castlebar, at 9.30am that morning.

Boxing

Another big highlight of the weekend will see champion boxer Ray Moylette give a boxing technique class on Saturday at 4pm and Ray will be available for questions and answers afterwards.

Breaffy Leisure Centre is a partner in the event and is providing classes throughout the whole weekend.

There will be foam rolling, spinning, tours of the gym, and classes for all levels of fitness, including classes for older people on Saturday morning.

There will be a wide variety of stalls such as physios, nutritionists, running, retailers, and more.

The weekend will have food demos and expert talks, including the benefits of juicing, the natural choice body type plan (weight management/health plan ), IWanna Run specialists on yoga for your toes and specialist in chiropractic, Dr Lorraine Surdival.

There will also be products such as Juice Plus - 26 different fruit, veg, and berries in a capsule.

There is still room for stall holders to take a space.

Stalls cost just €50 for the full weekend from 6pm Friday April 24 to 6pm Sunday April 26.

Weekend passes cost €40 or day passes costing €20 per day and can be purchased online on www.iregister.ie/mayosports or at the event reception over the weekend.

The Mayo Sports and Fitness Weekend is being supported by Mayo Sports Partnership and Breaffy House Resort. All proceeds from the event go to Western Care Association local services.
