Put on a brew for Alzheimer’s Tea Day

People across Mayo are being encouraged to put on a brew to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland this May 7.

Now in its 21st year, the fundraiser has seen thousands of people host tea parties in their homes, offices, and schools to raise vital funds for the Alzheimer’s society, which provides supports to the 48,000 people and 50,000 family carers affected by dementia in Ireland.

All money raised locally helps to maintain services in the local community.

Operation Transformation’s Dr Ciara Kelly is lending her support to this year’s event.

“I'm delighted to support Alzheimer’s Tea Day,” she said. “Alzheimer’s dementia is becoming more and more common in our communities with prevalence rates set to treble in a generation. This campaign helps raise vital funds and awareness of a condition that affects so many families.”
