Westport festival secures Arts Council funding

The Westport Folk and Bluegrass Festival has received €2,800 in funding from the Arts Council in round one of the Small Festivals Scheme for 2012.

Sixty–six small festivals and events throughout the country have received Arts Council funding. A total of €401,650 has been awarded to 66 festivals and events throughout the country from 122 applications received.

Orlaith McBride, director of the Arts Council, said: “It is particularly impressive to see a number of new festivals being funded through the scheme despite reducing resources. The Arts Council truly recognises the important contribution these festivals and events make to the social and cultural aspects of their communities.”

Round two of the Arts Council’s Small Festivals scheme is available to festivals taking place between July 1 and December 31 2012. Closing date for receipt of applications for this funding is Friday February 10 2012. See www.artscouncil.ie
