Claremorris announce Winter Alliance event

Balla

Last weekend’s competition in Balla was played as a waltz format and the trio of Seamus Holian, Enda Holian and Dara Cawley won out on a score of 85pts. Second place was claimed by Aodan MacSuibhne, Aine MacSuibhne and Bob Leggett, with the troika of Jim Conlon, Pat Kilgallon and John O’Connor coming third. This weekend’s competition is a Golfer of the Year event sponsored by The Rendezvous Bar, Balla.

Ballina

An information night for members on fundraising and other upcoming events will be held in the clubhouse tonight, Friday, at 9pm. All are welcome. Gerry Tuffy and Robbie McGinty won the club foursomes match play event last weekend, where they overcame Tom Devers and Liam Casey on the final hole. The 18 hole singles stableford competition was won by Keith Desmond with a score of 40pts, with Walter Gavin coming second on a score of 35pts.

Ballinrobe

Last Sunday’s competition, which was sponsored by Texoil, was won by Eddie Killeen with a score of 39pts. He finished one point in front of Gerry Scully in second place with Frank Burke coming third. The gross prize was won by Kevin E Ferrick, with Sean Frehan taking the front nine prize and Tommy Fahy the back nine win. The ladies’ was won by Ann Galvin with a score of 39pts, Shannon Burke came second four points behind, with Marian Scully taking third place and Helen Healy fourth. The front nine was won by Anne Keogh with Sue Keane the back nine winner.

Castlebar

The Mick Byrne’s classic competition played over last Saturday and Sunday was won by Ian Brennan on a score of 39pts. He finished just in front of second placed Frank Murray with Darren Greaney third. Tom Moylette came home fourth with Seamus Cuffe fifth, and Diarmuid Gibbons the best junior player in the event.

Claremorris

The Hill Side service station sponsored competition last weekend was won by Brian Farragher with a score of 41pts, the Cat 1 prize was claimed by Brian Burke also on 41pts, with Pat McGuinness the Cat 2 winner and JP Hughes the Cat 3 winner. The ladies’ event was won by Norah Maloney on a score of 36pts. Claremorris Golf Club will host an 18 hole Stableford Winter Alliance for ladies and gents on October 29, November 19, December 3, and December 17. Handicap limit is 18 for gents and 30 for ladies. There are four net prizes in each section and one gross prize. There is also a prize for best overall player, ladies and gents. The cost is €60 for visitors and €30 for members. Mulranny

Sunday’s competition was cancelled due to adverse weather conditions

Next Sunday’s stableford competition is sponsored by Allergen, Westport.

The club outing takes place to Ballinrobe this Saturday, October 15. There are a few places remaining but you must ring Fergus 087 6137379 without delay.

Mulranny Club has a very attractive golf offer for winter golf and entry to the Winter League for only €100, or you can become a full member until January 1 2013 for €300 which also includes entry to the Winter League. For details contact Patsy 087 6198188. Entry for the Winter League (teams of four ) is now being taken as it commences on October 23. You may play on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays. Full details and entry forms are posted in the clubhouse. The club has announced that Mulranny Park Hotel will be the main sponsor of the league. The annual dinner dance/retirement function takes place on Saturday November 12 in Mulranny Park Hotel. Contact any committee member or list your name in the clubhouse if you are attending.
