2manyDJs are about to hit Castlebar

The legendary 2manyDJs have announced a special late night show at the Royal Theatre, Castlebar, on March 18. You could say that musicians are in general an exceedingly hard working lot, but few could ever hope to touch the heights of productivity that Stephen and David Dewaele, aka 2ManyDJS, aka Soulwax, do. In 2009 alone they criss-crossed the globe, playing the biggest festivals and stadiums under the guise of both 2ManyDJs and Soulwax. Festival-wise, they played prestigious slots to tens of thousands (indeed, most were headlining slots ) at every summer festival worth its salt across the map, with the glorious roll-call including Glastonbury, Creamfields, Ibiza Rocks, and our very own Electric Picnic.

This is a late show, strictly over 18s, doors open at 11pm. Tickets are on sale now, price €30, on www.ticketmaster.ie as well as from The Royal Box Office on 0818 300 000. For further information check the Royal Theatre and Event Centre website on www.theroyal.ie or www.ticketmaster.ie

A vocally dazzling bel canto showpiece, this tale of doomed love between the children of two rival families of Scottish nobles, based on a Walter Scott novel, is best known for its famous ‘mad scene’ where the fragile heroine loses her mind when she discovers, too late, on her wedding day that she has been tricked into marrying another man when her lover from the rival family has remained true to her all along.

Garry Carney at the Linenhall

Chart-breaking Mayo singer/songwriter Garry Carney performs at the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar on Wednesday March 23 at 8pm.

Singer songwriter Gerry Carney is well known for his original ballads, based on everyday simple storylines. Gerry was born and raised near Ballyhaunis, where he still resides. His infectious lyrics address all aspects of life, and some of his most recent songs, as witnessed on his recent CD Paddy (including the Irish chart-breaking single of the same name ), echo themes of family, emigration, and backward glances at one’s homeland. His previous album The Flame was an album of the week on 2FM,
