Mayo League AGM next week

There is always plenty of open and honest discussion when the Mayo League hosts its AGM. This year’s will surely be no different when the clubs and the league executive meet for the AGM on Tuesday March 8 at 8pm in Milebush Park.

Mayo teams in preparation for next round of the Connacht Cup

There are six Mayo teams still in contention for the Connacht Junior Cup. Four of those sides will square off against each other next weekend in the competition. Manulla will host Ballyheane, while Ballyhaunis Town will have the tough task of trying to knock Westport United out of the competition in the Sportspark. The other two Mayo teams left in the competition will both be hitting the road. Iorras Aontaithe will head to Ballinasloe Town, and Ballina Town will be making the trip to take on Carbury. In the Connacht Junior Shield this weekend two Mayo sides Mulranny United and Moy Villa will go head to head in the quarter final of the competition in Mulranny on Sunday at 2pm with a place in the last four up for grabs

Mayo League see off Roscommon in u16 inter-league affair

The Mayo league came out on the right side of a one goal game in Manulla last weekend against a dogged Roscommon side in the u16 inter league competition. The man who secured the points in this group game was team captain Gerard Haran who drove on his side from his midfield berth. Mayo still have two games left in the group stages against the Galway League and the Athlone League, a win in both games would see the team managed by John Ralph and Alan McDonnell make it through to the knock out stages of this competition.

Durkan appointed as new Snugboro boss

Snugboro FC this week announced that it has appointed Michael Durkan as manager of the club’s Premier Division side. Durkan, who was caretaker manager for the remainder of last season, has accepted the role on a permanent basis for the coming season. He was a prolific striker with the club through the years and will bring a wealth of experience to the job having assisted former managers John Collins and Mick Wallace as well as bringing silverware to the club with the ladies team and the B side.
