You instantly recognise the catchy intro, you know all the words by heart, you know the dance moves – now get ready to experience the thrill of Footloose The Musical live in the brand new state-of-the-art Royal Castlebar Theatre and Event Centre from Tuesday October 28 to Saturday November 1, following a sell-out West End season. Prepare to be blown away by the fantastic dancing and to sing along to all the unforgettable 80s hits, including “Holding out for a Hero”, “Let’s Hear it for the Boy”, “Almost Paradise” and, of course, the title track “Footloose”.
Star of the show Maureen Nolan told the Mayo Advertiser earlier this week that anyone who comes along to the show will be in for a treat. “It’s a great show, it’s a real run for us on stage and for those in the audience.” Maureen herself first hit the big time as a member of the Nolan Sisters, who topped the charts across the globe in the 1980s. Since swapping the top of the charts for the musical stage she hasn’t looked back. “ When we finally stoped with the band it gave me time to go in this direction. It was something that I had always thought I would like to do and I haven’t looked back since. I did a two-year run in Blood Brothers and a few other things and now I’m really enjoying my time in Footloose. It’s a great story and the songs are fantastic, I love singing them every night and there are a couple of great new ones that were written for the stage show which will be treat for those who come along. There is a fantastic cast involved in this production and no one will be disappointed with the show we put on.”
Based on the iconic 80s dance movie, Footloose, staring Kevin Bacon, Footloose- The Musical is a classic tale of teenage angst and is full of youthful high spirits. As well as reflecting the mood and attitude of young people, it is a touching story of two families coming to terms with a loss. This entertaining new production of Footloose, featuring a young and sexy cast, is humorous and moving as well as being a reminder to celebrate life and to live for the moment!
