€1,950 fines and disqualification for driving employer’s van drunk

A Lithuanian man who drove his employer’s van while drunk and had no driving licence, insurance, NCT or tax was disqualified from driving at Claremorris District Court this week.

Edvinas Dubickas, Boherduff, Claremorris was stopped on August 17 2009 at 1am when he was arrested on the suspicion of drink driving. A blood sample given showed 253mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood. The defendant, who was driving a commercial vehicle, had no driving licence, tax, NCT or insurance.

Judge Mary Devins convicted and fined Dubickas €750 for drink driving and disqualified him from driving for three years. For no insurance he was convicted and fined €700 and disqualified for one year to run concurrently. For failing to produce insurance he was convicted and fined €50; for no driving licence he was convicted and fined €150 and for having no tax he was convicted and fined €300.
