Large attendance expected at GMIT careers fair

Hundreds of students, graduates, and jobseekers are expected to attend the GMIT Castlebar Graduate Careers Fair in GMIT Castlebar on Thursday February 4.

Organised by the college’s careers service, some 30 organisations will take part in the event, comprising a mix of companies, professional bodies, recruitment agencies, and third-level colleges.

Michelle Kerins-O’Brien, GMIT careers officer, explained: “It’s an excellent opportunity for people to speak to employers to find out what’s on offer and what skills are being sought.

“In the current economic climate, we need to be informed about what opportunities are available. Some people may be looking for employment or thinking about returning to education. We can inform you about all your options. This is an opportunity for members of the local community as well as our own students and graduates. We'd advise people to bring copies of their CV as recruitment companies will also be represented at the fair.”

Organisations expected to take part in the event include Lionbridge Technologies, TTM Healthcare, Construction Industry Federation, Irishjobs, CIMA, Portwest, Cara International, Allergan Pharmaceuticals, and others, as well as the Western Development Commission, An Garda Síochána, GMIT Innovation in Business Centre, UL, NUI Galway, IT Sligo, CPA, and ACCA.

The GMIT Castlebar Careers Fair takes place on Thursday February 4 from 10am to 1pm.

Further information on the event is available from the careers service at 094 904 3127.
