Mayo DJs clean up at the National Radio Awards

Two Mayo radio DJs were the big personality and show winners at this year’s prestigious PPI radio awards which were held in Kilkenny last Friday night.

Keith Cunningham (KC ), a presenter and programming director with Cork’s Red FM, landed the best breakfast show in Ireland for the second year in a row, the first breakfast show double win at the yearly event.

Cunningham, from Cottage Road, Breaffy, also won the silver award in the music broadcaster of the year category with the gold position going to his friend, Today FM’s Ray Foley from Ballina.

This was Foley’s first win at the PPI awards. As luck would have it he too landed a double win picking up a music programming award for his essential rock anthems show. This year’s awards were not hosted by one personality, but six different hosts all hailing from various radio stations across Ireland. Presenters on the night included Today FM’s Ian Dempsey, 2fm’s Colm and Jim Jim, RTE Radio 1’s  Miriam O’Callaghan, and Breaffy man Keith Cunningham.
