James Kilbane for RTE Televised Sunday Service

Country Gospel artist James Kilbane and his music will feature on this week’s RTE Sunday Service live from Donnybrook in Dublin. Kilbane will be leading the music and singing for the Presbyterian service that will be conducted by the Very Rev Dr Kenneth Newell, OBE DD. The service will be broadcast from 11.15am until 12pm. From Achill, James Kilbane has continued to work and develop in Gospel music for all Christian communities here in Ireland and abroad as a result of his commitment to his work and music.

The Reverend Kenneth Newell, a gifted sermon writer and an inspiring speaker, has been a leading member of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland and served as moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland until 2005. In his working life the Rev Ken Newell has ministered across Northern Ireland and Indonesia and he has also played an instrumental part in the peace process in Northern Ireland. With Fr Gerry Reynolds from Clonard Monastery, Belfast, Rev Newell helped in building peace between the religious communities during the troubles and received the Pax Christi International Peace award.

James Kilbane’s continued work and recording of Gospel music for all Christian communities in Ireland and abroad has led to him being asked by the Presbyterian Church and RTE to join in and complement their televised Sunday service liturgy. This also follows Kilbane’s appearance on the world wide Catholic network EWTN. On Sunday Kilbane will be accompanied by John Flatley and John Murphy from Partry and Kiltimagh. He will sing several well know hymns during the broadcast, known to all Christian traditions. The Sunday Service will be broadcast on RTE One television on Sunday September 6 at 11.15am and can also be seen on the RTE website at www.rte.ie/tv/worship
