Natural gas arrives in Ballina

Bord Gáis celebrated the arrival of natural gas to Ballina with one of the first customers in the town to connect to the network, Market Lane Restaurant. Mayor of Ballina Councillor Michelle Mulherin, and CEO of Ballina Chamber Sandra Cribben joined Bord Gáis Networks staff and complex owners Keith and Siobhan Brennan to celebrate the switching on of natural gas by restaurateur and chef Kieran Sweeney.

At the event Mayor Mulherin said: “The arrival of natural gas in Ballina is an important milestone for the development of the town, both for its existing industry and in attracting investment. The economic and environmental benefits from the extension of the gas network to Ballina will be substantial for all customers and of significant benefit to existing businesses. I would also like to congratulate Keith and Siobhan Brennan for embracing this opportunity to tackle energy costs in their business and on the occasion of making history in Ballina, being among the first to connect to the gas mains in town.”
