New Irish van sales still growing rapidly

There were 602 van sales in November, up from 384 in November 2013, an increase of 56.77 per cent.

Ford, with new extensive modern range were again the market leaders with 196 units (32.56 per cent market share ), an increase for the blue oval brand of 32.56 per cent. Following on in second place was Volkswagen with 163 units sold (27.08 per cent market share ), a massive 443.33 per cent on November, 2013. Their zero per cent finance offer is proving very attractive.

The remaining top 12 in the van sales charts for November were as follows: Nissan, Renault, Opel, Toyota, Land Rover, Peugeot, Mercedes-Benz, Fiat, Hyundai, and Citroen. One stand-out negative figure in the SIMI statistics showed Iveco down from 54 unit sales (14.06 per cent share ) in November last year to zero sales in November this year.

The top seven-selling LCV models in November were: VW Caddy (140 units ), Ford Transit (83 ), Ford Transit Connect (28 ), Opel Combo (25 ), Ford Ranger (24 ), Renault Master (21 ), and Nissan NV200 (17 ).

Truck sales are also vibrant

Irish truck sales are nearly 19 per cent ahead this year.

Overall Ireland has recorded an increase of 11.6 per cent in new truck sales in October over the same month in 2013.

And for the first 10 months of this year, the Irish HCV market is showing an increase 22.51 per cent over the first 10 months of last year. However, November HCV sales were down from 75 units in 2013 to 42 last month, a reduction of 44 per cent. Renault had the best November followed by Volvo.

Overall, for the first 11 months of the year, the Irish HCV market is up by 18.87 per cent with 1,965 units sold. Volvo lead the market, followed by Scania, DAF, Mercedes-Benz, and Renault.
