Throughout the summer Kilbeggan Library staff asked families to participate in the summer reading safari challenge. The challenge was simple: Read six books and get a reading reward. Complete the challenge and be entered into the prize draw at the end of the summer.

Paula O’Dornan acting county librarian was delighted to meet the winners and their families at the prizegiving last week. She paid tribute to the support of the families who encouraged their children to develop the reading habit over the summer.

Winners included: Michael Fagan, Lily-Marie Norigeon Grehan, Alan Farrell, Ailbhe Rabbitte, Sophie Murtagh, TJ Donaghy, Brian Egan, William Bagnall Hennessy, and Martha O’Grady.

Favourite authors included Jeff Kinney for older readers and Roger Hargreaves for younger readers. Football - The Ultimate Guide was the most borrowed non fiction book.
