€64,000 for Ballinasloe Mart

Ballinasloe Livestock Mart is to receive €64,245 in funding, it emerged yesterday.

The mart is one of four across Galway East which are to be allocated sums of money from the Department of Agriculture.

In total €16.7 million is to be allocated nationwide by Minister for Agriculture Brendan Smyth.

The funding was welcomed yesterday by Michael Kitt, TD, Minister of State for Environment, Heritage and Local Government.

In addition to Ballinasloe Livestock Mart, Headfort Mart is to receive €177,607, Athenry Mart €42,560, and Gort Livestock Mart €20,160.
