Minister Kitt welcomes funding for Ballinasloe pre-school

Preschools and Traveller initiatives in the Ballinasloe and East Galway area are to benefit from funding of almost €200,000 from the Dormant Funds Accounts.

Minister of State for Environment, Heritage and Local Government, Michael Kitt, has welcomed the announcement by the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs that the Government has approved the allocation of a total of €9.7m from the Dormant Accounts Fund to projects nationwide.

This funding will provide support for a number of organisations in East Galway. A significant amount has been allocated to several pre-schools for quality improvement measures. St Mary’s Preschool, Ballinasloe; Ballinasloe Social Services Preschool; Busy Little Bees Community Playschool/Creche, Ballinasloe; Tiny Tots Creche and Montessori; Tuam Community Childcare Centre; and Little Wonders Montessori School, Tuam are each to receive €10,000, while Headstart Montessori School, Ballinasloe will receive €8,960.

Meanwhile a pre-school education initiative for Traveller children, Little Acorns Community Childcare in Headford is to be allocated €17,500.

Galway County Council is to receive €103,138 in funding for Traveller initiatives.
