Gathering at Uisneach to keep Festival of the Fires flame burning

The team behind Festival of the Fires are keeping the flame burning this May bank holiday weekend when they host a spectacular two-day Gathering at Uisneach at the Uisneach Inn, located at the foothill of the Hill of Uisneach in Killare, Co Westmeath.

Gathering at Uisneach will take place over the Bealtaine, May bank holiday weekend, on Saturday May 4 and Sunday May 5 and will feature many of the elements that made Festival of the Fires one of Ireland’s most iconic events - amazing music from some of the top international and Irish acts, arts and crafts, family entertainment, fire ceremonies, history and heritage, spoken word, family fun, local food and drink, genealogy and clan finding and, of course, the legendary Uisneach Warriors!

The Bealtaine Gathering at Uisneach is supported by Westmeath County Council and the Irish Public Bodies Insurance, and it will see visitors flock to Westmeath for the best in arts and culture all weekend long.

A special outdoor arena and three music stages will play host some of the biggest names in music, including Irish hip-hop-pop kings The Original Rude Boys and, making their debut Westmeath appearance, The Rubber Bandits on Saturday May 4. On Sunday May 5, festival favourites Kíla bring their sublime blend of traditional music, together with the brilliant Ryan Sheridan and the band about to break it in the UK and Europe, The Riptide Movement. Lots of other acts will play over the weekend, with several very special guests.

Families will be wowed by the Uisneach Warriors on horseback and there’ll be loads for the kids. Keeping with the tradition of Festival of the Fires, the history and heritage of Uisneach will be to the fore, with historical talks and exhibitions. Visitors can trace their Westmeath and family roots, and discover lots about the Lake County and its rich and varied history.
