Moate students impress with their environmental actions

TY students from Moate Community College presented their action project to raise environmental awareness and make a positive contribution to their local community, to judges at ECO-UNESCO’s Young Environmentalist Awards, Leinster ECO-Den last week.

The groups had to convince a panel of expert judges including Elaine Nevin (ECO-UNESCO ); Ann Bonner (Westmeath County Council ); Niamh Hatchell (EPA ); and Karen Mahon (AluPro ) that their group deserves a spot at the ECO-UNESCO Young Environmentalist Awards 2013 gala showcase and awards ceremony in Dublin’s Mansion House, in May.

The Westmeath students gave it their all at the ECO-Den and will find out after the Easter holidays if their group have made it through to the showcase and awards ceremony in May.
