Help Pampers and UNICEF tackle tetanus

Mother and musician Sharon Corr recently helped launch the Pampers UNICEF Ireland 1 pack = 1 vaccine campaign, fighting the preventable but often fatal disease, maternal and newborn tetanus.

For the third year in a row, Pampers and UNICEF Ireland are working together to help eliminate a disease that kills one baby every three minutes and 30,000 mothers each year. Every special pack of Pampers purchased until December 31 will provide a vaccine to protect mothers and babies in the developing world.

In 2007 Pampers and UNICEF Ireland managed to break the one million-vaccine mark to raise a total of 1,198,383 vaccines to protect mothers and babies in developing countries. But this year’s campaign will go one step further and support UNICEF in its work to help countries achieve the goal of eliminating maternal and newborn tetanus by 2012.

Pampers has also created special fundraising packs to help everyone get involved in this campaign. From a mother and toddler coffee morning to a special sponsored crawl, there are many ways that people throughout Westmeath can give additional support to this year’s campaign.

Fundraising packs are available by ringing the Pampers UNICEF Ireland Fundraising Line at (01 ) 6188411 or simply make a donation, no matter how big or small, to UNICEF by logging on to www.unicef.ie
