Calling all Athlone pubs, do you really want to find out which is truly the strongest pub? Then keep this date in your diary! Friday July 1 will see Athlone’s first inter pub Tug of War at Burgess Park between 5pm-7pm as part of the Athlone Summerfest. They are calling all local pubs to get teams together to join in on some old-fashioned heave ho fun!
Entry for Tug of War contestants is free, with €100 up for grabs for the Strongest Pub. Pizza and refreshments will follow afterwards in the newly opened Suede Bar on Sean Costello Street.
