Storyteller visits to Kilbeggan and Moate Libraries

Westmeath County Library Service welcomed storyteller Aideen McBride to Kilbeggan and Moate Libraries to help celebrate READiscover your library month.

Aideen grew up in Co Carlow with a rural background and is now living in Dublin with her family. Her stories range from traditional tales and rural tales, to newly created stories. She has told stories in both English and Irish in schools, libraries, and festivals. Aideen was involved in story collection projects including Scéal Éile Ballymun; Memories from the Grassy Margin, with St Catherine’s Centre for Travellers in Carlow; and International Tales with the SPIRASI Ccentre in Dublin.

Both libraries were delighted to work with local schools, and encourage the children to have fun storytelling, and help children to discover their own stories and develop imagination. Moate Library had children from Rosemount and St Brigid’s National Schools along to enjoy the storytelling. Third and fourth classes from Scoil an Clochair had a memorable visit to Kilbeggan library.

Schools who are interested in READiscovering the library for future school tours should contact Lorna in Moate Library on (090 ) 6481888 or Ray and Margaret in Kilbeggan Library on (057 ) 9333148.
