An opportunity for youth to have their say

The Westmeath local Youth Council (Comhairle Na nÓg ) will be meeting on Friday, September 17 from 7-9pm in the Prince of Wales Hotel, Church Street, Athlone.

This is an opportunity for young people to get involved in the local youth councils, or comhairli. It is a place for young people to unite and bring their local views and local issues to the services, councils, and decision makers in their area.

So come, have fun, make friends, and use your voices to get your issues heard. Every young person is welcome to attend, and can bring a friend if they wish.

Comhairle na nÓg is a network of local youth councils, which give children and young people the opportunity to be involved in the development of local services and policies. There is a Comhairle na nÓg in every city and county.

The Westmeath Comhairle na nÓg is broken into four electoral areas with regular meetings held in Athlone, Coole/Castlepollard, Kilbeggan, and Mullingar. Young people are encouraged to attend the meetings in the area that suits them best.

Meetings will also take place in Kilbeggan National School on Thursday September 16, the Annebrook Hotel Mullingar on Wednesday September 15, and the Castlepollard Arms Hotel also on Wednesday September 15.
