American country takes over The Stables

Country young guns The Cherokee Chicks play support to the veteran country music band Tennessee Breakdown in Mullingar’s The Stables next Thursday July 15.

The midsummer American country music gig features contemporary music from artists such as the Dixie Chicks, Alan Jackson, and Garth Brooks, as well as the classic country hits of Johnny Cash, George Jones, etc.

The Tennessee Breakdown Band are a seven-piece band who play American country, western swing, electric bluegrass, and country jazz.

They are a group of highly skilled musicians who have been on the music circuit for many years. They cover the music of Ricky Scaggs, Merle Haggard, Daryll Worley, George Jones, Brad Paisley, and Toby Keith.

The band features Jimmy Horan on bass guitar, Doc Doherty on piano, Pete Mulkearns on fiddle, mandolin, guitar and vocals, Marty Monaghan on acoustic and vocals, Barry Coffey on pedal steel, lead guitar, and vocals, Vinny Baker on lead guitar, five string banjo, and vocals, and Claude Whelan on drums.

Playing support are The Cherokee Chicks, a hardworking two-piece American country girl band who play guitar and sing. They cover all the favourite country hits from Johnny Cash, The Eagles, CCR, to the Dixie Chicks and much more. Amie is from Westmeath and Claire is from Meath. They are also currently writing their own songs as an acoustic set, so watch this space.

Catch Tennessee Breakdown and The Cherokee Chicks at The Stables, Mullingar on Thursday July 15. Doors are at 8.30pm for a 9pm start and tickets are €10 at the door.
