Westmeath County Council is hoping to organise an evening of entertainment, discovery and adventure in Westmeath as part of National Culture Night 2010 which will take place on Friday September 24.
The council is asking arts and cultural organisations to open their doors for free events, tours, talks and performances for the people of Westmeath to enjoy as part of an overall county programme. It is hoped that Culture Night will be a platform to showcase the county’s rich cultural offering and represent a powerful and positive image of the immense contribution culture can make to our society ultimately making the arts accessible to absolutely everyone - enthusiasts and novices alike.
With this in mind Westmeath County Council is to host its next Culture Night meetings in Mullingar Branch Library, Mount Street, Mullingar on Tuesday April 6 at 6pm, and in Athlone Branch Library, Civic Offices, Athlone on Thursday April 15 at 4pm.
It is hoped that people involved in the arts can come together at this meeting and organise a variety of free activities for the people of Westmeath across artistic disciplines. You may already be running an event around this time or your group or organisation may have a plan to organise an event which can be run on this specific night. It could be a talk, a lecture, an exhibition, a music performance, a concert, etc. Westmeath County Council is also looking for venues to offer their premises free of charge for a variety of cultural events as part of the overall county programme.
Westmeath County Council hopes that you or a member from your group or organisation will be able to attend, in order to develop a plan for Westmeath Culture night 2010.
