County Westmeath libraries continue commitment to promoting climate change awareness

Westmeath libraries are committed to raising awareness of climate change and the development of responses needed by society.

The service aims to do this via collections and the hosting of numerous events pertaining to the issue.

Living sustainably and in harmony with the planet need not be a chore and it can give you immediate benefits. Westmeath libraries are looking forward to hosting the following climate change themed events during November.

Eibhlin Fitzpatrick from The Refill Mill will visit Mullingar Library on November 2 at 6.30pm for an interesting discussion about how to ‘Live with Less Plastic’. Eibhlin will discuss how to reduce plastic use in our homes, workplace and lifestyles.

On November 14 at 7pm Westmeath libraries will host an online event, ‘Eco Bites’, with Diane and Nathalie from The Sustainable Life School, who wish to create happier lives for a happier planet. During this one-hour online workshop participants can learn about the connection between climate change and food, the benefits of eating local and seasonal, what is climate friendly eating and plenty of tips on how to reduce food waste.

Advance booking is required for both events.

Remember, membership of your local library is free to all.

Contact your local library to find out more and to hear about the wide range of events which we run throughout the year.
