Local childcare providers receive grant funding towards energy upgrades

Local childcare providers have been allocated grant funding totalling in excess of €170,000 towards green energy upgrades at their facilities.

Grovelands Childcare has been allocated a grant of €62,469 for works at its Corran Riada premises in Monksland and was further awarded an allocation of €71,839 for work at its childcare facilities in the IDA Business Park in Athlone.

Additionally, the Gingerbread Preschool in Bealnamulla will benefit from grant funding of €39,176.

The grants were confirmed in recent days as part of a nationwide allocation of nine million euro for 141 early learning and childcare services under the ‘Building Blocks - Improvement Grant’ scheme.

The local area childcare providers were allocated funding under the Green Energy structure strand of the scheme.

This means their grants can go towards a range of energy efficiency works, including ventilation improvements, solar panel installation, heat pumps, water conservation measures, efficient heat generators, insulation and dry lining, boiler upgrades, and electrical vehicle charging points for staff.
