Annual Pilgrim Walk from Athlone to Clonmacnoise launched by local branch of Knights of St Columbanus

Annually organised by the local branch of the Knights of St Columbanus, the Pilgrim Walk to Clonmacnoise was recently launched.

With proceeds afforded to Athlone Meals and Wheels, the Pilgrim Walk will take place on Pattern Sunday, September 17, departing from Clonbonny at 11am.

Mass will be celebrated at 3pm by the recently ordained Bishop of Ardagh and Clonmacnoise, Paul Connell.

Grand Knight, Ray Joyce, has encouraged members of the local public to come out on the day and support a very worthy cause.

“Athlone Meals on Wheels provide an excellent service in our communities, preparing and delivering approximately 150 meals per day to those in the town and its immediate environs, Castledaly, Ballinahown, Moate, Ballymore, Drumraney, Tang, Glasson, Drum, Ardkeenan, Brideswell, Curraghboy and Taughmaconnell.

“Sponsorship cards are readily available from members of our local branch if you wish to make a donation to this worthy cause,” Ray commented.
