Dún na Sí Amenity and Heritage Park welcomes return of Viking Festival

After a hugely successful Summer 2022 festival, the Vikings return to Dún na Sí on Saturday, July 29 and Sunday, July 30.

A family day out, the festival will feature Viking reenactors, all in traditional costume, and crafts people/traders with authentic hand made goods from all over Ireland as Europe will descend upon and camp at Dún na Sí.

The Viking families and children will be camped in an authentic tented village on the grounds of Dún na Sí. A replica 20 foot ship will also be on display.

The event will be hosted from 11am to 5pm on Saturday and 11am to 4pm on Sunday to show how Viking folk lived more than a thousand years ago. There will be demonstrations throughout each day by crafts people using medieval tools and ancient skills which will include, woodworking, cooking displays, pottery, jewellery making, blacksmith works from Showcase 2023 winner “An gobha”, and rune readings. There will be new additions this year including Archery and Raven Haven Aviaries with their beautiful birds on display.

Artisans will have their handcrafted goods on display and for sale. Make sure to bring cash on the day if you wish to purchase from the vendors.

Come along and participate in children’s treasure hunts and Viking style face painting. Watch the battle re-enactments at designated times throughout the day. There is certainly a festival item for all the family.
