Athlone was the focal meeting point for ICU doctors, nurses, healthcare workers, hospice staff, paramedics and gardai who departed on a Covid-19 cycle of remembrance to honour the lives lost during the pandemic in this country.

Aiming to raise €150,000 for charities and collecting white roses at community hospitals along the way to pay, the participants paid tribute to those that lost their lives to Covid-19.

There was also another Athlone connection because the Radisson Blu Hotel in Athlone has come on board as a sponsor for the event.
