Moate Community School has formally launched its Centre of Excellence following the recent completion of a brand-new full-size soccer pitch with LED floodlights and spectator area.

The sports surface is the latest in astro turf technology and is of the utmost playing quality in terms its surface presentation. The pitch itself will be FIFA approved to facilitate teams interested in playing matches on this magnificent surface.

The facility is complemented by two small astro floodlit soccer pitches, two floodlit tennis courts, a full size floodlit GAA pitch and a recently refurbished carpark to hold over 100 vehicles.

All facilities are adjacent to the Greenway track from Athlone to Moate with the school already providing a set of 30 bicycles for students who wish to avail of the Old Rail Trail.

Present at the recent launch was former GAA footballer of the year and an employee of PST sports, Kieran Donaghy, who conducted a superb job in completing the new pitch.

This ensures that the students of Moate Community school will have unparalleled sports facilities and will no doubt encourage all to keep fit and active.

Any team within the locality interested in training or using the soccer pitch can now book the astro-turf facility on 087 3363848.
