Athlone singer/songwriter aspires for positive music career

Continuing to make strides in his burgeoning music career, Athlone native, Jack Tiernan, spoke to the Athlone Advertiser this week with regard to his aspirations as his self-penned single 'Meant to Cross' achieved number one status on the iTunes singer/songwriter chart in Ireland this past week.

"To see a self written song at number one was an extremely proud moment and achieving such an honour certainly broadens the appeal of my music to a vast listening audience," Jack stated.

Focussing on enhancing his singer/songwriter talents, Jack is preparing to release his debut EP in August, the songs for which he has now penned. During the same month he will travel to Manchester to perform a live set for the Pure Talent agency as he aims to maintain a continued presence in the recording industry.

"The songs which will feature on my debut EP in August were written in my bedroom with lyrics and melody recorded on soundcloud and I am looking forward to its release," Jack enthused.

Current single, 'Meant to Cross', is a "typical break up" song and follows on the success of the 17 year old's debut recording 'It's OK', released during the initial period of Covid-19 restrictions which broached the topic of mental health. All funds raised from the streaming of 'It's OK' were afforded to Pieta House.

Humble in his outlook, Jack finds inspiration in the music of Dermot Kennedy.

"Dermot would be my music idol. Despite his fame he has remained grounded and humble and I find inspiration in his lyrics and melody," Jack stated.

Raw music singer/songwriting talent in abundance, Jack Tiernan has a future laden with positive possibilities within the music industry.

'Meant to Cross' is now available to download from iTunes, Spotify and soundcloud streaming services.
