Favourable COVID-19 figures allow for further easing of restrictions

As figures pertaining to the suppression of COVID-19 within County Westmeath continue to prove favourable, with an increase of just one confirmed case this past week (671 as of midnight on June 6 ), the Roadmap to Recovery for Business and Society has been positively amended with July 20 now the culmination date for the reopening of the country.

Now comprising a four phase plan, phase two which commenced on Monday last has been updated to include the further easing of restrictive measures. Phase three of the plan will commence on June 29, while the ultimate phase (phase four ) will start on July 20.

Phase 2 Enhancements

Travel

Persons are now permitted to travel to locations within their respective counties or up to 20km from their residences whichever is greater.

Gatherings

Groups of up to six persons can meet indoors or outdoors but must adhere to social distancing guidelines.

Organised outdoor exercise, sporting, cultural or social activities of up to 15 persons may take place in line with public health advice.

Retail

All retail outlets are now open (with shopping centres to open on June 15 ). SHOP LOCALLY, shop safely and support business within your community.

Work

Those who are presently working from home are encouraged to continue doing so.

Transport

Walk or cycle when possible and only use public transport when it is necessary to do so.
