AIB League fixtures list
Fixtures lists for the forthcoming AIB League campaign have been announced.
Buccaneers are back competing in Division 1 this season, the Midlanders will have their first match at home against Dolphin RFC but supporters will need to plan for four away games before Christmas.
Buccs have eight home fixtures and seven away in a league that kicks off on October 4 at Dubarry Park.
Buccaneers should have a sizeable crowd on opening day against Dolphin before “upping sticks” for the trip on October 11 to Shannon at Coonagh. Shannon are coached this year by Geoff Moylan, former Buccs coach so both teams should be well fired for that game.
Buccs travel home to face another Limerick side, UL Bohemians on October 18, before going on the road again for three consecutive games against Garryowen (October 25 ), Dungannon (November 29 ), and Blackrock College (December 6 ).
A home game to Ballymena on December 13 takes the schedule up to the Christmas break.
The New Year action resumes on January 17 at home with the Connaught derby match versus Galwegians followed by two trips to face UCD and Cork Con in January. February 21 is at home to Terenure followed by St Mary’s away on March 7. Clontarf away is on March 28 before returning to base for two home matches to finish the scheduled league matches on April 11 and 18 against Young Munster (also fresh back from Division 2 ) and Old Belvedere respectively.
All in all, a reasonable schedule with home advantage hopefully to our benefit at the latter end of the season.
