Support local man Aiden’s twelve-hour treadmill challenge

Aiden Sheridan is tackling a solo 12-hour treadmill challenge in Golden Island Shopping Centre this Friday, November 17 to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society.

The Ballinasloe native will be taking to the treadmill from 9am to 9pm and is asking members of the public to donate money to help people affected by cancer.

Last year, carpet fitter Aiden (39 ) ran 52 marathons in 52 weeks to raise funds for a cancer charity, and he is ready once again to clock up more miles for a good cause.

Speaking about his motivation, Aiden said: “In 2015, my sister Jennifer was diagnosed with breast cancer and went through months of treatment. Thankfully she is doing very well now, but earlier this year my brother Mark passed away very suddenly from cancer, so if I can do anything to raise awareness and money towards cancer research I will.”

Every year in Ireland 40,000 people get a cancer diagnosis. Through public donations the Irish Cancer Society is funding lifesaving research to improve methods of detection and treatment, providing information and support to those affected by cancer, and raising awareness of how cancer can be prevented.

Aiden will have a bucket collection throughout the day, so drop by Golden Island Shopping Centre to show him some support.
