Drug fine could land defendant 10 year jail sentence

A Mullingar man has been charged with having €18,000 cannabis herb for sale or supply, an offence that commands a minimum mandatory 10 year sentence on conviction.

Damien Bradley (24 ) of Brookfield, Mullingar is also charged with having €4,000 cocaine for sale or supply at an address at Castlelost Vale, Rochfortbridge where he was renting a room from his brother.

It is alleged the drugs and a weighing scales were found during a search of the property on July 27 last year. No cash was located, Inspector Jarlath Folan said.

Bradley he made no reply when charged with the offences.

He was remanded on bail to appear before Judge Hughes at Mullingar District Court again on March 7, when the issue of legal aid will be considered.
