Porsche driver called other motorists on road ‘rednecks’

A 39-year-old man from Westport who after being stopped by gardaí—after an alleged complaint that he was driving dangerously in his Porsche—reacted by telling the gardaí that the drivers in the area were a “bunch of f*****g rednecks” and that “it is no wonder your country is in the state that it is”, appeared at Castlebar District Court this week.

People power is back in vogue in Ireland. Last week’s marches on Dáil Éireann by first the elderly and then the youthful brought the nation’s capital to a standstill. These marches were followed up with a 5,000 strong protest outside Leinster House by teachers, students, parents and the concerned average Joe on Wednesday evening.

All Ireland final day looms again and we’ll make the long trip to Dublin in hope of seeing a Mayo team climb the steps of the Hogan Stand to lift the Tom Markham Cup this time. Hopefully it’ll be Sam next year. It’s been a long road for the Mayo minors to get to where they are and the Mayo faithful are hopeful that they will bring home the victory.

Sure why not, you couldn’t be dealing with the rain and the wind which is now part and parcel of our Irish summer as well as our winter.
