Mr Paul Walsh, CEO of CUNA Mutual, the credit union insurer, said that Holy Communicants receive hundreds and thousands of euro on their big day and is now encouraging parents to have their eight and nine years olds lodge their cache as savings.

A new website, GreenQuest.ie, founded by Mayo natives Martin Heneghan and Tom Canavan has found that more than 55 per cent (55.6 per cent) of people living in Connacht still do not know what a building energy rating (BER) is, despite the fact that any house being offered for sale or rent in this country requires one under law.

Positive Signs for Recruitment Sector

The last year quarter has shown some welcome signs in the recruitment sector, according to Irishjobs.ie, the quarterly online jobs index. These include a nine per cent increase in jobs advertised online as compared to last year. The medical professionals and healthcare sector has seen the biggest increase in new jobs advertised, with retailing, wholesaling, and purchasing showing the largest decline in new jobs advertised.
