Castlebar FG distributes Electoral Register applications

Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny has welcomed the move by the Henry Kenny Fine Gael branch Castlebar to distribute application forms for inclusion on the electoral register.

The closing date for applying to be included on the 2011 Electoral Register is Thursday, November 25 2010.  A dedicated website (www.checktheregister.ie ) exists for people wishing to check if they are on the electoral register. Alternatively, an individual may also contact Mayo County Council (094-9024444 ) to check if he/she is included on the electoral register.

“I welcome this move to distribute application forms directly to the electorate; it will help ensure that more eligible voters are included on the electoral register for 2011,” Deputy Kenny said. “You cannot vote if you are not on the electoral register and this effort to promote registration should result in an influx of new registrations. Considering that the next general election may be sooner than many of us anticipate, it is vital to ensure that you are included on the list in order to vote. A vote is the most powerful democratic weapon that you possess and I am urging the public not to let this opportunity pass them by. Application forms are also available from my constituency office, Tucker Street, Castlebar, which may be contacted on 094 9025600.”
