Mayo schools to receive high tech equipment grants

Twenty seven post primary schools around Mayo are to receive further funding of some €2.6 million in grants for high tech equipment, according to local Fianna Fáil TD and Minister for State, Dara Calleary. The funding is being made available as part of the Government’s strategy to make technology an integral part of the learning process.

Post primary schools throughout Mayo will receive a base grant of €1,700 and a payment of €70.22 per capita, allowing the schools to purchase modern technological equipment. DEIS schools will receive a higher basic grant of €2,550.

Minister Calleary said he was delighted so many Mayo schools have been included in the latest funding announcement and hoped that schools all around Mayo “will soon have this new equipment in place for the benefit of their staff and students”.
