Fine for spinning around an estate

An 18-year-old woman who drove around an estate, even though she had no driving licence or insurance, was before Ballina District Court this week.

On July 19 before 7am, Garda Rebecca Fearon received a report from a resident of the Glebe estate, Ballina, that two females were driving in the estate in an erratic manner.

Garda Fearon attended the scene where she observed Nicole McLellan, 107 Greenhills Estate, Ballina, parked. The defendant admitted she had no insurance or driving licence.

McLellan, who has no previous convictions, was convicted and fined a total of €300 by Judge Mary Devins.
