Looking for Eden at the Linenhall

After a successful spring run, Rain, Rocks ‘n Reeks is launching its autumn/winter tour of Eden by Eugene O’ Brien, kicking off at the Linenhall Arts Centre on Monday September 14 for one night only. First produced in The Peacock in 2001, this award winning play and film realistically portrays the disintegration of the marriage between Billy and Breda Farrell. Billy, (Paul Mekitarian ) though a doting father, spends his time drinking and enviously watching the lives of his single friends, while secretly lusting over a younger woman, Imelda Egan. The long suffering and frustrated Breda (Hazel McLynn ) yearns for the romance lost from her marriage and pins all her hopes of reconciliation on one big night out “cos she’s made the effort and lost the weight”. Mac’s late bar is the venue and we see their story unfold as both characters pursue their opposing goals with the inevitable outcome. In its everyday simplicity, hilarious storytelling and colloquial language, Eden is guaranteed to appeal to both theatre and non-theatre goers alike. Definitely a must see.

Rain, Rocks ‘n Reeks was co-founded in autumn 2008 by Paul Mekitarian and Hazel McLynn. The aim of the company is to bring quality drama to a wider western audience. Eden is their first venture, but they look forward to many more future productions.

Paul is a graduate of the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama and has appeared in many productions in Dublin and throughout the country before moving to Mayo three years ago. Hazel initially worked as a choreographer and dancer in Dublin for 15 years and subsequently became a Guildhall trained actress before moving home to the West. Her most recent work includes Nine Lives (Galway Film Fleadh ) and Hearts Desire filmed in Westport.

Don’t miss your chance to see this one night only performance in the Linenhall. Satisfaction guaranteed.
