Final four pairings decided in cups

Soccer: Mayo League

Castlebar Celtic's Eoghan Hughes was the standout performer, netting a hat-trick for the Hoops in their 4-0 victory against Manulla on Saturday at Celtic Park in the Calor Gas Super Cup quarter-final.

Celtic appeared comfortable despite only holding a one-goal lead at halftime, as Hughes scored the opener after twenty minutes. However, their clinical performance in the second half secured their spot in the cup's semi-finals in a month's time. Shortly after the break, Paul Walsh added another goal to make it 2-0 before Hughes completed his hat-trick within a four-minute span midway through the second half.

In the other Quarter-Final clash on Saturday, Moy Villa overcame Crossmolina in a hard-fought contest, becoming the only non-Super League side to reach the semi-finals with a 4-2 win in Attymass. Crossmolina took the lead twice in the first half, but Moy Villa showed resilience and scored late goals through Ryan Moran and Paul O'Boyle to secure the victory.

Niall Coggins gave Crossmolina the lead within fifteen minutes, but Andrew Ruane equalized for Moy Villa just four minutes later. Kevin Campbell then restored Crossmolina's lead seven minutes before the break. However, Ryan Moran equalized again, and later, he scored the next goal with six minutes remaining, while Paul O'Boyle secured the victory with a goal in injury time.

Ballina Town also reached the semi-finals with a 3-0 win over Glenhest Rovers on Sunday morning in Beltra. Andrew Shally's eighth-minute goal gave Ballina a one-goal advantage at halftime, and they further solidified their lead just before the hour mark when Daniel Gorman scored his third goal of the season. Jamie Cawley added the third goal on seventy-five minutes, making it a comfortable last fifteen minutes for Alan Henry's side.

In the last match of the quarter-finals, Westport United defeated Conn Rangers 6-1 in Mount Falcon on Sunday afternoon. Westport displayed an excellent performance in the first half, scoring four goals in a seventeen-minute span. Cian Halpin's shot squirmed under Brian McMahon in the Rangers' goal for the opener on sixteen minutes. Paul Mee and Joe Lawless both found the net to make it 3-0 before the twenty-three-minute mark. Kevin Kitterick added the fourth goal before Cian Kilcoyne pulled one back for Conn Rangers. In the second half, Darren Browne and Cian Halpin, from the penalty spot, sealed Westport's 6-1 victory.

In the Calor Gas Premier Cup Quarter-Finals on Saturday evening, Kilmore secured a 3-1 win over Conn Rangers B in Drum. Rangers took an early lead through Kevin Breslin, but Kilmore mounted a comeback in the final ten minutes of the first half, with goals from Caobhlin Flatley and Brian McHale. Brian McHale scored his second in injury time, ensuring Kilmore's place in the semi-final draw.

Iorras Aontaithe advanced to the semi-finals after defeating Castlebar Celtic B, League One leaders, with a 2-0 win on Sunday afternoon. Brendan Nallen and James Lavelle both scored late goals to secure Iorras' victory in a game of few chances.

Ballyglass overcame Achill Rovers 3-0 in Fr. O'Brien Park to reach the semi-finals. Liam Hughes opened the scoring on the hour mark, and Oisin Moran and Conor Heneghan added further goals in the second half.

In the last quarter-final, Manulla B emerged victorious with a 4-2 win against Hollister in Carramore. Iago Moura Rocha and Alex Cunningham scored for Manulla, while Martin Delaney and Cian Cawley found the net for Hollister. Aparicio Alves and an own goal by Rory Langdon sealed Manulla's win.
