A number of 50 somethings are taking exotic holidays, buying sports cars, motorbikes, and taking gap years abroad, and almost 70 per cent agree that staying young in appearance is important, while nearly 95 per cent agree that one’s outward appearance indicates an inner state of mind and maintains a sense of dignity and self respect.

Ninety eight per cent agree that the Internet has revolutionised their lives. The top three Internet uses are shopping, staying in touch, and accessing health information. Twenty per cent of those trying to meet a new partner are using online dating services and 90 per cent of those who came of age in the 1960s agree that sex is part of a healthy relationship.
