Citroen C4 Picasso crowned Continental Irish Car of the Year 2014
The Citroen C4 Picasso has been voted Continental Irish Car of the Year for 2014 by the members of the Irish Motoring Writers Association.
The winner was revealed at an awards ceremony in Dublin last week.
The Citroen C4 Picasso received 377 votes from the Irish Motoring Writers Association jurors, just ahead of the Volkswagen Golf (364 votes) and the Mazda6 (327 votes). It is the third time Citroen has taken the overall Continental Irish Car of the Year title.
Members of the IMWA awarded their votes on the basis of key criteria, including safety, equipment level, fuel economy, comfort, innovation, practicality, ride and road-holding.
The trophy was presented to Frederic Soulier, managing director of Citroen Ireland, by Tom Dennigan of Continental Tyres Ireland, who commented: “The Citroen C4 Picasso is an outstanding car and a worthy winner of our main award. It combines excellent driving qualities with a range of truly impressive technologies, and is a credit to everyone connected with Citroen.”
In addition to the overall award, five other category winners were also announced:
Continental Irish Small Car of the Year: Peugeot 2008
Continental Irish Compact Family Car of the Year: Citroen C4 Picasso
Continental Irish Family Car of the Year: Mazda6
Continental Irish Executive / Luxury Car of the Year: Range Rover
Continental Irish Performance Car of the Year: Volkswagen Golf GTI
In total, a field of 51 cars contested the competitive Continental Irish Car of the Year 2014 awards. Last year the Continental Irish Car of the Year title went to the BMW 3 Series.
