What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Either on-stage with the band or at home, cooking and listening to Newstalk’s Off The Ball.

Which living person do you most admire?

My girlfriend.

Which is the trait you most deplore in yourself?

I tend to get very stressed when work piles up and I’m a bit loose with my money.

What is your greatest extravagance?

Trainers and Apple stuff.

What is your favourite journey?

As I write this I’m drinking beer and eating tapas in Valencia so, this one.

On what occasion do you lie?

When playing poker or doing interviews.

Which living person do you most despise?

I don’t really ‘despise’ anyone but there are people whose behaviour I’m not into. A certain English centre-half springs to mind.

What or who is the greatest love of your life?

Girlfriend/family/music/milkshakes.

When and where were you happiest?

I have a lot of reasons to be happy but being asked to play big shows like Glastonbury is right up there.

Which talent would you most like to have?

I’d like to be an amazing pianist.

What is your current state of mind?

See above re: beer/tapas.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Working really hard to forge a career in music and making a good living at it. Also Scoil Mhuire, Howth, sports day 1992, long-jump, bronze medal.

If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what do you think it would be?

A baby.

What is your most treasured possession?

I don’t really horde ‘things’. Probably a nerdy bit of studio kit.

What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?

Budget airlines. Menus with pictures.

What is your favourite occupation?

My current one, DJ/producer/band-leader

What is the quality you most like in a man?

Strong hands, chiselled good looks, makes me laugh.

What is the quality you most like in a woman?

Strong hands, chiselled good looks, makes me laugh.

Paul Hayward from the Observer.

What is your motto?

“If it sounds good, it is good.”
