Dunmore Amateur Dramatic Society (DADS ) is bringing Brian Friel’s Faith Healer to the historic Mick Lally Theatre, on Druid Lane, tonight, and nightly until this Sunday.

Performances begin 8pm on Thursday, February 22, Friday, February 23, Saturday, February 25 and Sunday, February 26.

Faith Healer tells the story of Frank Hardy, his wife Grace, and manager Teddy, who traverse rural Wales and Scotland, offering Frank’s unique gift to people in need. Over the course of four monologues, the story of their shared lives is revealed in conflicting, haunting, and devastating accounts.

The play encompasses themes of identity, exile and homecoming.

The production is directed by Philip Mac Donnell, whose three DADS productions to date all placed in the All-Ireland Drama Finals: Someone Who’ll Watch Over Me by Frank McGuinness; The Gigli Concert by Tom Murphy; and The Odd Couple by Neil Simon.

A trio of formidable actors bring the play’s characters to life: Ollie Turner (twice All-Ireland Best Actor ) as ‘Frank’, Eleanor Sheridan as ‘Grace’ and Martin Silke as ‘Teddy’. All three have been key players in DADS’ successes over the years, with numerous awards between them.

Tickets from www.druid.ie or phone 091 568 660.
